Most Sliding Doors Do Not Need Replacing

A door that has become a two-handed shove is almost always a roller problem, not a door problem. Rollers wear flat, tracks fill with grit, and the whole thing starts dragging. Replacing the rollers and cleaning or capping the track brings it back to a one-finger slide for a fraction of what a new door costs.

We have been doing glass work in Houston for 20 years, and we will tell you when a repair is the right call and when it is not. If the frame is bent or corroded past saving, you will hear that instead of paying for a fix that lasts a month.

What We Fix

Sticking and Hard-to-Slide Doors

Worn or seized rollers replaced and the track cleaned out. This is the most common sliding door fault we see and usually the cheapest to put right.

Doors Off the Track

Bent, dented, or worn tracks repaired, capped, or replaced. We reseat the door and adjust it so it stops jumping out again a week later.

Broken or Cracked Glass Panels

Cracked and shattered panels replaced with tempered safety glass cut to your opening. In most cases the frame stays where it is and only the glass changes.

Foggy Glass and Failed Seals

Condensation trapped between the panes means the insulated unit has lost its seal. We fit a new unit, which clears the fog and gives you back the insulation you have been paying to lose.

Handles, Latches, and Locks

A patio door that will not lock is a security problem, not an inconvenience. We replace worn handles, latches, and lock mechanisms, and realign the door so the latch actually catches.

Office and Storefront Sliders

Commercial sliding doors repaired around your opening hours. See our office door glass work for interior and conference room panels.

Foggy Glass, Before and After

A failed seal cannot be cleaned out, because the moisture is sealed inside the unit. Replacing the glass is the only fix that lasts. Here is one of ours.

Before: moisture trapped between the panes

After: new sealed unit fitted

Repair or Replace?

Repair is usually the answer when the door sticks, has come off its track, will not lock, has one cracked panel, or has gone foggy. All of those are component failures on a frame that is still sound.

Replacement makes more sense when the frame itself is bent, corroded, or racked out of square, or when the door is single-pane and you want the energy saving of an insulated unit. At that point new rollers just move the problem around.

We look at the door before quoting either way. If you only need the glass changed, see glass replacement, and if the patio screen door needs attention too, we handle screen repair on the same visit.

How It Works

1

Tell Us What It's Doing

Sticking, off the track, cracked, foggy, or will not lock. A photo of the door and the track helps us bring the right parts first time.

2

Free Estimate

We diagnose what failed and quote the repair. If replacing the door is the better value, we say so rather than selling you a patch.

3

Repaired and Tested

We fit the parts, adjust the door, and slide it back and forth until it runs clean and locks properly. Old glass and packaging leave with us.

Common Questions

Sliding Glass Door Repair FAQ

Common questions about sliding and patio door repair in Houston

Why won't my sliding glass door slide?

Nine times out of ten it is the rollers. They wear flat, seize up, or come off the track, and the door starts dragging on the frame. Debris packed into the track does the same thing. Both are repairs, not replacements.

Can you repair the door, or does the whole thing need replacing?

Most sliding doors are worth repairing. Rollers, tracks, handles, locks, and single glass panels all come apart and go back together. We will tell you straight if the frame itself is bent or corroded past the point where a repair holds.

Can you replace just the glass panel?

Yes. A cracked or shattered panel can usually be replaced without touching the frame or the working door. We measure the existing opening, cut tempered glass to match, and fit it into the original frame.

My sliding door glass is foggy between the panes. Can that be fixed?

That fog means the seal on the insulated glass unit has failed and moisture is trapped inside. Cleaning it does nothing because the moisture is sealed in. We replace the glass unit, which clears it permanently and restores the insulation you lost.

Do you repair commercial and office sliding doors?

Yes. We work on office sliding glass doors, storefront sliders, and patio doors in rental and commercial properties. We can schedule around business hours so a door being out of action does not close you for the day.

How fast can you get out to me?

A door that will not close or lock is a security problem, so we prioritize those. Call (832) 275-4361 and we will tell you honestly when we can be there rather than booking you in and pushing it back.

Which areas do you cover?

Houston and the surrounding area, including Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pearland, Pasadena, League City, and Baytown. Call to confirm scheduling for your address.

How much does sliding glass door repair cost?

It depends on what failed. A roller and track job sits well below the cost of replacing the door, and a glass panel swap costs a fraction of a full unit. We quote before starting, and the estimate is free.
